A woman’s mouth is not the same at thirty-five as it is at fifteen or fifty-five, because her hormones are not the same. Almost no dentistry accounts for that. Ours is built around it.

Dr. Leedia Riman did not arrive at this through a textbook. She arrived through her own pregnancy, and what it did to her teeth.
“After a turbulent pregnancy and birth with shocking dental repercussions, my career as a dentist was changed forever.”
Conventional training had no explanation, because it treats the mouth as a closed system. Hormones were somebody else’s department. She rebuilt her practice around the connection nobody had taught her, and it is now the subject she is invited onto podcasts to talk about.
Estrogen is the mouth’s maintenance hormone. When it rises at puberty, surges in pregnancy, and falls in menopause, the gums, the saliva, and the bone move with it. Dr. Leedia built a protocol for each.

Gums that bleed at twelve are not a brushing problem. They are the first hormonal shift showing up in the mouth.

Pregnancy changes the mouth far more than most women are told to expect, and swollen, bleeding gums are the most common sign.

When estrogen falls, saliva thins and bone changes. Dry mouth is the symptom women notice. It is rarely the whole story.

“I finally understand what holistic dental care actually means. They treat you like a person, not a chart, and care about your whole health, not just your teeth. I trust them so much I sent my whole family.”
“As a dentist myself, I’m extremely selective about who works on my teeth. Their approach goes far beyond fixing teeth, they evaluate your entire oral health and how it affects your overall well-being.”
Her goal this year was to heal her mouth, quadrant by quadrant. She frames it as an investment rather than a repair.
